MAY TRAINING TIP

Posted by Crystal on 5/19/2015 to Events
Spring is in the air. The days are getting longer and the temperatures are on the rise. The warmer weather seems to bring all creatures to life and that includes snakes.

Unfortunately, much of the country is home to some type of venomous snake. They include copperheads, water moccasins, coral snakes and several species of rattlesnakes. Be it camping, hiking or hunting, the spring, summer and fall months find us outdoors frequently with our dogs. Thus, there is a possibility of contact with a venomous snake. The last thing you need to experience is your dog, or you for that matter, being bitten. These bites are very serious and can be fatal if not treated quickly. The best thing is trying to avoid being bitten in the first place.

A great way to insure that is to have your dog snake avoidance trained. Snake avoidance clinics are becoming very popular and occur in several areas of snake country. Their cost is minimal, at around $ 50 to $ 60 versus anit-venom at $ 1,000 to $ 1,500. As the old saying goes, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!” Our dogs depend on us for their health, happiness and safety. Snake avoidance training is an inexpensive way to protect our “best friend’s” life.

Stop by again next month for another training tip.
